Wrongful termination refers to a situation where an employee is fired in violation of the employee’s rights.
Because Texas is an at-will employment state, employees have limited legal recourse against their former employers when they feel as though they have been wrongfully terminated. An employee can be fired for a good reason, a bad reason, or no reason at all; so long as the employee is not fired based on discriminatory reasons, retaliatory reasons, in breach of an employment contract, or in violation of some other legal rights the employee has.
